"Sisi ni familia" - "We are one family "
Founded in 2008 by Lindy Kisaka, the QK orphanage in Kenya is currently home to around 60 children between the ages of 1 and 17. Lindy and her team provide a home for orphaned, abused and abandoned children.
Since 2018, the Smile for Children e.V. team has been providing financial support and expertise to create a sustainable home for the children and cover the orphanage's basic needs.
Sustainable. Transparent. With all of our heart.
The story of the orphanage is the story of a strong woman who works tirelessly every day to look after children who would otherwise be forgotten by our society.
It is the story of Lindy, who, after the brutal protests in Kenya in 2008, took in a handful of children who were orphaned as a result of the violence around the capital Nairobi when she was only 28 years old.
Since founding the orphanage in Africa in 2008, Lindy and her team have already taken in hundreds of children. QK Children's Home currently provides a home for around 60 orphaned, abused and abandoned children between the ages of 1 and 17.
At QK Children's Home, the children can finally just be children. In addition to access to education and maternal care, they also get to play with the other children at the orphanage.
**The motto is always "Sisi ni familia" - Swahili for "We are one family".
The children use their creativity to play and learn together. Many of the children experience the feeling of security here for the first time.
In order to provide for the children each month, long-term support is required. Every month, we need to cover ongoing needs such as water, firewood and medical care.
To enable Lindy and her team to continue their work, we are looking for sponsors!
In addition to providing basic care at the orphanage, our NGO members have been ensuring that the children have access to education and prospects since 2018. In addition, we are constantly improving the living conditions as well as sustainability of the orphanage with our construction projects.
As a voluntary NGO based in Paderborn, Smile for Children e.V. does not spend any money on administrative costs. **All income that the organisation receives from donations is used locally at the orphanage in Kenya.
